Wishing you all a happy New Year,lots going on last few weeks as expected ,i"m getting a better Idea of who's who on the team I believe i have a solid 12 dog team But" with no room for error on both our parts we have been running some hard miles the last few days everyone is doing great, up them their" hills to breaking Trail the training continues. we have now signed up for the Canadian Challenge a 320 mile race in northern Saskatchewan nice place to race when its not -50 which the last two times I've raced here the weather decided to plummet, but that's part of dog racing , well I hope to post some training pictures here in the next few days,

Here stands Mooshu a greyish colored dog he is the type of dog that will give his all and then some never a slack line if I only had 12 of him Life would be great ,the only fault he has is he is a timid type worker always on the look out for the sky falling and expecting worst of life ,for a skittish dog I have to admit when free time is over he is one of the first back to his house .Never a problem jumps right into his harness does not participate in playtime until he is in team ready for action I'll take him anyday,if you would like more info this season on his progress you can follow us on facebook

Here stands Zeena in her winter coat of white, We don't know how old she is when we brought her we were assured we would get the papers, but once the check was cashed that was the last of any communication with the seller,stuff happens, we think she is about 6yrs old , was also one of the last 7 dogs on the YQ 300 she is a gentle lady and is the elderstateswoman of the girls in the kennel and the others know it .she has the run of the pen ,she has never been in a fight ,they just seem to know she is the head mistress of the yard, on there free time she marks her spots and sniffs out new smells she can melt your heart with those soft blues eyes,is really a lovable dog and is a hard worker Zeena is the silent type and steps up to the plate when it is time to run we also use her in lead not a command but trail leader .

Tom is a 3 yr old Male When I first got tommy he was quite aggesive and would pick a fight with any male in the kennel big or small ,that was then ,nowadays tommy is a team player and gets along with everyone he showed his hard work ethic last winter at the Yukon Quest 300 when we were down to 7 dogs with a 100+ miles to go ,Tom never quit ,we have a game that he likes to play and he gets right into it where I will pretend to be a stalker trying to catch him he will try to touch me and me him ,sorta like keep away ,on his free time tom will still teases some of the others dogs like a teenager trying to act macho, and reminds me of a teen being rebellious, but its more play acting than anything.if you want to get to know Tommy Two shoes check it out under facebook ...........................

Dog Days of Winter
Below us is a dog named Bo old blue eyes ,he was 1 of 2 first dogs of smokey river runners and weights about 55lbs ,he is one of the head down arse up type of dog , I have to harness him last as he will chew his neck line right away ,old blues eyes will go into panic mode if he thinks he is not going with the team, and will be quite vocal ,bringing the barn down sceaming bloody murder,not much on showing his heart loves to run and sniff on his free time from the chain,does not pick fights ,gets along with the team but prefers to be on his own when the time permits.if you like Bo you can sponcer him at smokey river sled dogs on face book,....Start spreading the news................
